What weather forecasters are saying about chances of snow falling in Nottingham today

A flurry of snow could hit Nottingham this evening, some forecasters have predicted.

It comes after a yellow weather warning was announced yesterday (December 27) by the Met Office for snow and ice in Nottinghamshire today (Monday, December 28).

The national weather service said there was potential for travel disruption as "rain may turn to snow", with the warning set in place from 00.01am until 6pm tonight, across the county.

As of Monday morning, the weather warning has shifted towards the southwest and the county is no longer affected by the warning.

However, the cold spell will continue today as we approach the end of the year with early mist and thick cloud expected all day.

The Met Office predicts a cold day with top temperatures only expected to reach 3C and lows of 2C, with very little chance of sunshine.

Outbreaks of rain will push across western parts, with hill snow likely, perhaps a risk of snow or ice at lower levels in the southwest later.

Overnight, more outbreaks of rain are forecast, turning to snow over higher ground.

Accuweather indicates the 3C temperature will feel more like freezing (0C) throughout the day dropping to 1C tonight, feeling more like -2C.

The weather forecast site also has some snow on the cards for Nottingham this evening with around one centimetre predicted overnight.

Take care if travelling on the roads with low visibility and the potential for frozen ground.
