Florida’s most teal-colored team (this counts as a compliment) broke a 20-game losing streak by returning to their vacation home in London and upsetting the Miami Dolphins. Their success leaves the Detroit Lions — who were abandoned on the side of the road as buzzards circled in a 34-11 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals — as the only winless team remaining in the NFL.
Meyer retaining his job for at least one more week and the Lions’ continued futility weren’t the only developments in an uneven Week 6. Sunday’s games alternated between blowouts and burn burners on the scale of watchable football. The Dallas Cowboys came back to beat the New England Patriots in a game that devastated one group of displaced bandwagon fans and delighted another. The Carolina Panthers and Minnesota Vikings played a classic game that ultimately will mean nothing. And, uh, that’s pretty much it for excitement.
Huh. Well, let’s reflect on what we learned.
