What we learned from Leeds United training video with fresh hints on Eddie Nketiah's injury status

A new training video posted by Leeds United has provided hints of who is and isn’t available for Blackburn Rovers this weekend.

The footage, posted on LUTV, showed the squad hard at work at Thorp Arch as they prepare for Saturday’s Championship clash.

The most alarming absentee is Eddie Nketiah, who was a surprise omission from Saturday’s 2-0 win over Queens Park Rangers, after he reportedly suffered a lower abdominal problem. Marcelo Bielsa didn’t offer a timescale on his return, but reports have suggested he’ll miss the coming weeks.

Adam Forshaw, who has only featured for 45 minutes since August, is suffering from a hip injury and is also nowhere to be seen in the footage, nor is his back-up Jamie Shackleton, who missed out due to a quad problem.

One notable player who is on the training pitch is Barry Douglas. He’s been suffering intermittently with injury problems throughout 2019 and has only made three league starts so far this season.

With Ezgjan Alioski also out, not to be seen in the video, a return for the 30-year-old left-back could be welcome, given Jack Harrison had to adapt to an unfamiliar role as a left-wing against QPR.

Tony Mowbray’s Blackburn sit 16th in the Championship table ahead of their trip to Elland Road on Saturday. Depending on results elsewhere, three points could potentially see Leeds return to the top of the Championship table.
