Here's what we know about the mass shooting in downtown Austin Saturday morning:
Condition of Austin shooting victims
Austin Interim Police Chief Joe Chacon stated in a 1 p.m. Saturday press conference that 14 people were injured in Saturday mass shooting.
Officials said they believe most of the victims, whose injuries ranged from moderate to critical, were innocent bystanders and said that he believes that no one had died because of swift and heroic actions his officers took.
Police said the shooting appears to be an isolated incident but that the investigation is ongoing.
One shooting suspect arrested, 1 remains at large
Authorities say the shooter or shooters appear to have fired randomly. Detectives were working rapidly to view an array of video gathered by bystanders and other cameras near the scene in the 400 block of East Sixth Street to identify any suspects.
Police said they had zeroed in on two suspects involved in a previous dispute. The suspects could face a range of charges that include attempted murder and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, police say.
What we know about shooting suspect
The department has not released any detailed description of the man in custody or the man still at large, including age, residence.
Partiers and tourists returned to 6th Street
Austin residents and tourists alike returned in droves on Saturday night to the city’s iconic 6th Street entertainment district less than 24 hours after a shooting took place there.
Police: Tens of thousands potentially gathered at time of shooting
Police told the American-Statesman that the crowd in the city's entertainment district at the time was near the size of a "pre-pandemic" group, meaning potentially tens of thousands of people gathered in the area anchored by 6th Street.
Sixth Street is the core of the historic entertainment district in downtown Austin.
