What we know so far about the Charlie Kirk shooting suspect

  • Tyler Robinson, 22, was apprehended after a manhunt following the fatal shooting of Republican activist Charlie Kirk at Utah Valley University.
  • Robinson reportedly confessed or implied his guilt to a family member and had become “more political” in recent years, expressing negative views of Kirk.
  • Kirk, 31, co-founder of Turning Point USA, was shot while hosting a “Prove Me Wrong” segment on campus, discussing gun violence.
  • Authorities found the rifle used in the attack with engraved ammunition, including political messages, and recovered Discord messages from Robinson discussing the shooting.
  • Robinson is currently held in a Utah County jail on charges including aggravated murder, with Governor Spencer Cox indicating that charging documents will be filed within three days.
