What we know after White Rose shopping centre evacuated

The White Rose shopping centre has reopened for business following a brief evacuation.

West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service was called at 2.39pm in response to a fire alarm.

A spokesman told YorkshireLive firefighters attended the premises, in south Leeds, but found no signs of a fire.

Fire crews called a 'stop' on the incident at 3pm.

Shoppers who were evacuated tweeted several updates from the scene.

Scott Eaglen tweeted: "Scenes at White Rose Centre in Leeds. Alarm going off and tannoy saying ‘Do not we repeat do not enter the premises at this time’."

White Rose released a statement at around 3.45pm to say the centre was now open for business.

"Thanks to our customers and retailers for their support and patience during our brief evacuation today.

"Emergency services have been in attendance and gave the all-clear for our reopening.

"We are now trading as usual."
