What we know about Putin’s new plan to capture Kyiv

  • Russian president Vladimir Putin has reportedly ordered his military to plan new offensive operations aimed at capturing Kyiv , according to Ukraine ’s commander-in-chief Oleksandr Syrskyi.
  • Syrskyi indicated potential scenarios include offensives launched from Belarusian territory towards the Ukrainian capital.
  • He added that a strike from Russia's Bryansk region towards Ukraine’s Chernihiv region is considered the most probable scenario.
  • Meanwhile, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky confirmed that Ukraine struck a satellite centre in the Moscow region for the second time.
  • The Dubna space communications centre, located approximately 500km from the Ukrainian border, is used for intelligence gathering and coordinating Russian forces in Ukraine.
