What was played for Christian Pulisic on the team bus and a new record - Chelsea moments missed

Burnley fans make their feelings clear

Registering a 4-0 win over Burnley at Turf Moor on this weekend 12 months ago, it appeared that the Blues were about to go one better as Michael Oliver pointed to the penalty spot late on.

Callum Hudson-Odoi, moments after his introduction, got between Matthew Lowton and James Tarkowski and went down in the area to win his side a penalty.

However, VAR intervened and decided that it was instead a free-kick to the Clarets and that the England international deserved a yellow card for an apparent dive.

Burnley fans made their feelings clear to the 18-year-old from there on as every time he touched the ball he was booed.

At least Hudson-Odoi had the last laugh as the team ran riot in Lancashire with a 4-2 victory.

Music selection on the team bus

What made the result so much more impressive on Saturday evening was the fact that Burnley is a notoriously hard place to get three points from.

The Chelsea team left Turf Moor all smiles as they got back on the team bus before heading to the airport to get a flight back to the capital.

Well, the team paid tribute to hat-trick hero Christian Pulisic on the bus on the way back as Jody Morris uploaded a video to his Instagram story of the American national anthem playing for the 21-year-old.

A few more performances like that and it could become a regular occurrence in the dressing room at Stamford Bridge or on the team bus coming back from games.

He was quite simply outstanding.

Pulisic in the record books

Chelsea fans are now really starting to see the best of Pulisic after a mixed start to his Chelsea career.

In and out of the team early on in the season and missing out on the squad altogether at times, the youngster really has caught the eye in the past few weeks.

He deserved his start in Lancashire and he made it one to remember as he marked it with a perfect hat-trick.

His treble also saw him enter the club's record books as he became Chelsea's youngest hat-trick scorer in the Premier League at 21 years and 38 days.

Tammy Abraham was the previous holder of the record after his hat-trick at Wolves in September but that only stood for a grand total of 42 days.

Kovacic's turn

Mateo Kovacic is also another Chelsea player that deserves so much praise for his display at Turf Moor.

Enduring a bit of a mixed season last term under Maurizio Sarri as he was swapped with Ross Barkley nearly every game, some fans questioned the decision to buy him for £40million.

Those doubters have since been silenced as the Croat has been in top form for the Europa League holders this campaign.

Running the midfield against Burnley alongside Jorginho, the ex-Real Madrid man produced an incredible piece of skill to get his team on the attack in the second half.

Receiving the ball from Kepa on the edge of the area with his back to goal, Kovacic was instantly closed down by Jay Rodriguez and Jack Cork but managed to wriggle between them with a sharp turn.

It was a fantastic piece of skill as he got the Blues moving forward once again.
