What was on Manchester United note handed by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to Juan Mata against Wolves

Juan Mata has joked Ole Gunnar Solskjaer handed him a note with a grocery list on it during Manchester United's victory against Wolves on Wednesday night.

United booked their place in the fourth round of the FA Cup in midweek as a goal from Mata secured a 1-0 win for his side in the third round replay at Old Trafford.

Solskjaer's side struggled for creativity in the win against Wolves and found it difficult to break through Nuno Espirito Santo's well-drilled defensive tactics.

With the score goalless, Mata was beckoned to the bench by the United manager and handed a note with instructions on it to try and change the game.

United went on to secure the win thanks to a solitary strike from the Spanish midfielder and after the game he remained coy when quizzed on the contents of the note.

"A list for grocery shopping...bread.. milk.." Mata joked to BT Sport.

"It's been five games we haven't beaten Wolves. It shows how difficult they are - they have great players. We finally beat them. We showed that we can compete against every good team."

Although the goalscorer was reluctant to give any details of the note Solskjaer later suggested it instructed his side to keep their shape better.

"A couple of times we went out of shape for a little while - we adjusted it for five/10 minutes before half-time," Solskjaer told BT Sport.

"Dan [James] had three or four great opportunities one-on-one with the keeper. Fair play to our boys we created them but we didn't take them."
