Unai Emery says Villarreal centre back Pau Torres is the best defender he's managed.
The 24-year-old has played every minute in La Liga this season and has become a crucial part of Emery's team.
Spanish outlet Marca reported last month that Arsenal have "expressed a lot of interest" in signing Torres, who made his Spain debut in 2019 and has won seven caps for his country since.
And today the Manchester Evening News reports that Manchester United are looking into a possible move for Torres ahead of the summer transfer window.
Torres has been at Villarreal since the age of five and spent time on loan at Malaga in 2018/19.
"Pau Torres is an amazing player - I think he’s top," Emery told football.london.
"I've been a coach in Sevilla, PSG, Arsenal and I’ve never seen a centre back like Pau Torres.
"I think he’s going to play at the highest level, he’s playing now in the national team but he can play in the top teams in Europe very soon."
The report adds that any move for Torres is likely to take place late in the summer transfer window with the defender fully focused on the La Liga season with Villarreal before turning his attentions to the European Championship with Spain.
Villarreal have had a difficult few games in La Liga, having drawn four and lost one of their last five after initially starting their league campaign strongly.
