What Unai Emery is teaching Nicolas Pepe that is helping him to settle at Arsenal

Nicolas Pepe has revealed that manager Unai Emery has been helping him to learn English so that he can communicate more easily with his teammates

The Arsenal record signing joined in a £72m deal from French club Lille. But is yet to make his full debut for the club, coming on as a second half substitute in the Gunners first two Premier League games so far this season.

The 24-year-old has spent his entire career playing in France, and has said that Emery's ability to speak his language has helped him to quickly settle at the Emirates Stadium, although the attacker is determined to be able to also communicate in English a thing that Emery is helping him with.

"It's been really good because he speaks French and it has been much easier for us to communicate," he told Arsenal Player .

"I am new, the strategy and tactics are new and it really helps that I can get the coach's assistance. Now I need to learn English and this is something he is helping me with also."

Having failed to qualify for the Champions League this season, Arsenal was seen as somewhat of a surprise destination for Pepe, but the player has explained that the ambition of the club helped him to make the decision to sign.

Unai Emery: We never want to play against Liverpool

"I chose to come here because it's a club with a lot of ambition," Pepe added. "They have the dream of coming back to the Champions League and I am also an ambitious person, so the choice was very logical.

"I am attracted to the Premier League because it is an extremely intense championship and the best league in the world. The idea is to win the Europa League and that is a goal of ours. It's a European event and our goal is to do better than last season. I believe we will."
