What UEFA said about Callum Hudson-Odoi's potential as a future Chelsea star

UEFA have included Chelsea wide man Callum Hudson-Odoi on a list of six young stars of the Europa League this season in the programme for tonight's final.

The 18-year-old has had a breakthrough season in the blue of Chelsea, scoring four goals and providing two assists during the club's Europa League campaign, although, unfortunately, the teenager will play no part in the final after sustaining an achilles tendon injury in the Premier League game against Burnley.

In the programme, the winger is described as "dynamic" and "pacy" who "made history as the youngest player to debut for England in a competitive match."

"Still only 18, the son of former midfielder Bismark Odoi can also play through the middle, terrifying defenders with his dribbling acumen."

Hudson-Odoi featured in all but on of Chelsea's European games before his injury, earning a place in Gareth Southgate's England squad through his performances in the competition.

With the player on the sidelines unable to play a part in the final alongside fellow England international Ruben Loftus-Cheek, who has suffered the same injury, Chelsea captain Cesar Azpilicueta has claimed that the team will have extra motivation to win the competition for their injured teammates.

"I think yes, it is an extra motivation for us," he said. "Both of them were very unfortunate with their injuries.

"They were both in their best moment of the season, playing regularly and were important for the team. So it was a huge downer for all of us, including them.

"All of us will take it as an extra motivation to win it for them because they have been very important to get us to Baku. They deserve for us to give everything for them. Hopefully we can do it."
