What UEFA's Euro 2020 decision means for Arsenal, Chelsea, Tottenham and West Ham

Euro 2020 has been postponed for a year due to the coronavirus outbreak, according to the Norwegian Football Association.

Set to take place across 12 countries at the end of the current season, UEFA revealed last week that a meeting would be held on Tuesday to discuss what would happen with the Euros, Champions League and Europa League.

Expected to be postponed for 12 months to allow all competitions to be finished in the summer months once football finally returns, the Norwegian FA have since confirmed UEFA's stance.

"Uefa has decided that the Euros should be postponed until 2021. It will be played from 11 June to 11 July next year," said a tweet on their official Twitter account.

The governing body are yet to confirm but an official announcement is imminent.

The coronavirus crisis has led to the suspension of football leagues across the globe, with the Premier League confirming last Friday that all games would be postponed until the weekend of 3-5 April.

However, it's not exactly clear if the league will resume at the start of next month as many clubs have either been in lockdown or have now decided to shut their training grounds.

The decision regarding the Euros suggests that clubs will now have to complete their remaining league games over the summer months.

Premier League teams have nine games of the season remaining as things stand and the league was due to come to a finish on Sunday, May 17.

As the Euros are now set to take place between 11 June and 11 July, 2021, it also means that next campaign will need to be finished in time for the start of competition.

There was due to be a four-week gap between the end of the Premier League season and Euro 2020 starting, thus meaning that a similar time period would also likely be required next year.

Premier League clubs will convene on Thursday to discuss their next steps.
