What TV channel is Newcastle United v Chelsea on? Kick-off time, team news and predictions

Chelsea travel to Newcastle United on Saturday for their first Premier League outing after the international break.

The Blues have hit top form in recent weeks, with Frank Lampard 's side undefeated in eight matches in all competitions.

Goalkeeper Edouard Mendy helped the club to register five consecutive clean sheets for the first time since 2010, before he finally conceded his first goal since arriving from Rennes in the 4-1 victory over Sheffield United last time out.

Meanwhile, Newcastle have lacked consistency this season with the Magpies having won three and lost three of their opening eight matches.

Frank Lampard relies on Mason Mount's qualities

They fell to a 2-0 defeat at Southampton in their last Premier League encounter and will be looking to seal an unlikely victory on Saturday in order to return to winning ways.

Is Newcastle United v Chelsea on TV?

The match will be shown live on BT Sport 1 and is also available to watch via the BT Sport app.

Coverage from St James' Park will begin at 11:30am on Saturday ahead of kick-off an hour later at 12:30pm.

What is the latest team news?

Ben Chilwell could feature for Chelsea this weekend after he was forced off during England's defeat in Belgium on Sunday.

The 23-year-old later trained with the national side and was named on the bench for Tuesday's comfortable victory over Iceland.

However, Thiago Silva is unlikely to be involved after a late return from international duty with Brazil.

Lampard clarified in Friday's press conference: ""Silva has just landed, he probably won't go to Newcastle because of the journey. We're still waiting on some COVID testing.

"Unfortunately some are arriving back this afternoon, so with the 12.30pm kick-off it brings a lot of challenges."

The Blues will definitely be without Christian Pulisic as he continues his recovery from injury, while Kai Havertz is a doubt despite recovering from coronavirus.

It is also unclear whether or not Timo Werner will travel after the German forward missed training on Friday.

For the hosts, star striker Callum Wilson could be involved having returned to training following a thigh injury.

Jonjo Shelvey and Matt Ritchie are also close to a first-team return but are not expected to play against Chelsea.

Newcastle's side will not include Martin Dubravka, Ryan Fraser, Dwight Gayle or Paul Dummett with all four players ruled out.

Who is predicted to win?

Many pundits have backed Chelsea to continue their strong run of form with a comfortable victory at St James' Park.

Mark Lawrenson of BBC Sport is among those favouring the Blues.

"At the back, Thiago Silva is a doubt because he has only just got back from international duty, but I'd still expect Chelsea to win comfortably," he revealed.

Michael Owen also predicted an away win, telling BetVictor: "Newcastle appear very inconsistent just now. I was covering their game against Southampton and it was clear that they couldn’t get into any rhythm."
