What Tottenham’s fixture list could look like if the Premier League returns in July

There has been no action for Premier League clubs over the past two weeks due to the outbreak of coronavirus around the world.

Football has been suspended until at least April 30 due to the pandemic, but that date could yet be extended should the situation not improve.

It has led to uncertainty over how the Premier League season could finish, but news emerged on Saturday that discussions were taking place over plans to conclude the season over a four-to-six week period in July with games being played behind closed doors.

football.london understands that the plans were reached in a conference call between the three governing bodies and the government on Saturday.

Tottenham: The season so far

This will then take the teams more or less straight into the new season, but there will be some allowances made to try and help players and clubs cope with what would essentially be an extended 2020/21 season.

So how would that affect Tottenham and what could their revised fixture list look like?

Spurs have nine Premier League fixtures of the season remaining meaning that it would take just over four weeks, when playing both on weekends and during midweek, to complete the fixtures.

If the fixture list was to follow the same format as was previously planned, Tottenham would resume with the visit of Manchester United to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, which was the next scheduled fixture before the suspension.

They would also have to play West Ham, Sheffield United, Everton, Bournemouth, Arsenal, Newcastle, Leicester City and Crystal Palace.

Here’s how the full fixture list could look:

Wednesday, July 1 - Man United (h)

Saturday, July 4 - West Ham (h)

Wednesday, July 8 - Sheffield United (a)

Saturday, July 11 - Everton (h)

Wednesday, July 15 -Bournemouth (a)

Saturday, July 18 - Arsenal (h)

Wednesday, July 22 - Newcastle (a)

Saturday, July 25 - Leicester City (h)

Wednesday, July 29 - Crystal Palace (a)

The next Premier League meeting is scheduled to take place on Friday, where clubs could be told about a potential starting date.
