Lucas Bjerregaard is the next to face Tiger Woods in Match Play.
Bjerregaard will face off against Woods in the WGC-Dell Technologies Match Play quarterfinals beginning Saturday afternoon. The tee times for the single-elimination quarterfinal matchups at Austin Country Club have not yet been announced.
Woods, 43, qualified for the quarterfinal round after eliminating Rory McIlroy Saturday in the Round of 16 with the score of 2-and-1.
Bjerregaard, a pro since 2011, defeated Henrik Stenson in the Round of 16, 3-and-2, to qualify for the quarterfinals. The 27-year-old from Denmark never trailed during Saturday’s match against Stenson and finished with seven birdies and one bogey.
Bjerregaard defeated Matt Wallace 1 up in the third round, halved with Keegan Bradley in the second round and defeated Justin Thomas in the first round, 3-and-2.
Currently World No. 52, Bjerregaard plays on the European Tour after earning his Tour card in 2014.
Bjerregaard’s best finish this season was T12 at the 2019 Honda Classic. Most recently, he finished T30 in The Players Championship. Bjerregaard’s most recent Tour win was at the 2018 Alfred Dunhill Links Championship.
