The last season ended on a cliffhanger and left fans in shock when Nairobi died. We also witnessed Lisbon entering the Bank of Spain, where the rest of the gang is currently undertaking their second heist.

Here’s everything you need to know about the Money Heist Season 5 part one:

What to expect from Money Heist in Season 5 part one?

First, let’s have a quick recap up to the last episode of the fourth season. The story came to an end when the Professor’s scheme reunited Lisbon with the other members of the gang at the Bank of Spain but smart inspector Alicia Sierra caught the Professor red-handed.

There are two new characters this season. Creator Álex Pina, confirmed that actors Miguel Ángel Silvestre and Patrick Criado will be joining the cast.

In the last season, the gang overpowered Gandía, but his death hasn’t been established yet. This could mean Silvestre is the new villain.

Part one, according to Pina, will delve deeper into the character of Manila.

As for the Professor and Alicia, fans have been speculating Alicia’s real identity for a long time now. But, we are promised part one will see a standoff between the opponents.

Why are the cast of Money Heist named after cities?

Pina revealed in an interview with Lifestyle Magazine that they needed to give every character a unique code name and cities was just one of several ideas the writers considered.

Originally the characters were going to be named after planets but after one of the team turned up with a t-shirt bearing the word Tokyo they settled on assigning different cities to each of the crooks.

When is Money Heist part two coming out?

The makers of the show will premiere the greatest heist in history on Netflix in two parts - the first part released today and the second part in December 2021.

Season 5 production was delayed due to the Covid-19 pandemic and fans were sad to hear it would be the final season.
