Updated guidelines have been released by Leeds Teaching Hospital Trust revealing what people should expect before going into hospital for planned procedures.
While they are still encouraging people to wash their hands with soap regularly and maintain social distancing, they have put extra measures in place to stop the spread of the virus and to keep people safe.
People who need to go to hospital for planned health care such as surgery will have to self-isolate at home for 14 days and a Covid-19 swab test will be arranged before admission.
Unless the surgery or procedure is urgent, it will not go forward unless the test comes back negative.
Also, those travelling to the hospital on public transport must wear a mask or face covering - both of which must cover the mouth and nose.
An update, which can be read here, says: “If you use public transport you must wear a mask or face covering. Face coverings do not replace the need to follow social distancing rules but may prevent you from passing on coronavirus before you have symptoms.
“A cloth face covering should cover your mouth and nose while allowing you to breathe comfortably. It can be as simple as a scarf or bandana that ties behind the head. When wearing a face covering, take care to tuck away any loose ends.
"If you need some help while you are self-isolating, NHS Volunteers Responders can help you with daily tasks such as collecting your shopping or prescriptions or call you for a friendly chat.
