Parents across the country today will have received letters informing them if their child has obtained their pre-school or Primary One place.

More than 99% of children have been placed in a primary school of their choice after the completion of the 2019 admissions process, according to the Education Authority.

A total of 23,631 (99.37%) children in Northern Ireland were placed, with 97.47% being offered a place at their first school.

At pre-school level, a total of 22,371 (96%) children have been placed at the close of Stage 1 of the pre-school admissions procedure with 85.90% being offered a place at their first preference setting.

What do you do if you didn't get a pre-school place?

For parents who were unsuccessful in obtaining a pre-school place, the second stage of the process now begins. EA has also written to those parents with information on pre-schools which may still have places available and requested further preferences for processing in Stage 2.

Pre-school providers will issue letters to those parents on Tuesday June 11, 2019 for receipt on Wednesday June 12, 2019 advising of which pre-school setting their child has been placed.

A list of providers/schools that may have places available can be found on the EA website  along with an information leaflet containing questions and answers on what parents may need to do depending on the outcome of their application.

The admissions website also has information on the Stage 2 procedure for pre-school which includes the processing of underage children.

Parents who were unsuccessful in obtaining a primary one place for their child will receive notification from the Education Authority (EA) advising how they can nominate further preferences.
