What to do if you get coronavirus - three key tips from Doctor Hilary Jones

Good Morning Britain's resident health expert Doctor Hilary Jones has revealed three things you must do if you get coronavirus.

As he has done every day since coronavirus hit the UK, Dr Hilary was back on GMB on Monday morning as the number of deaths in the country due to COVID-19 soared to 281 over the weekend.

And, as well as telling host Piers Morgan that the UK needs to go on lockdown now, Dr Hilary issued key guidance on what to do if you contract coronavirus.

He narrowed it down to three key messages and they are:

1. Drink lots of water

2. Use over the counter medication like paracetamol to help with some of your symptoms

3. Take care of your mind as well as your body - by staying in touch with family and friends over the phone and on social media

Calling for a nationwide lockdown, Dr Hilary added: ""I think the time is now. When I think about the paramedics, who are doing a fantastic job, they've run out of masks and they're seeing lots of people with respiratory illness.

"There are anaesthetists who've been on the front line, already themselves ill in hospital.

"There are a number of throat consultants, working on the front line looking at people's throats and noses and they have become ill. This is increasing."
