What time will Storm Barra hit Dublin as flooding, power outages, fallen trees and traffic light problems reported

Storm Barra has made landfall on the west coast of Ireland and is expected to track across the country over the course of Tuesday.

It is expected to cause chaos with thousands of homes already left without power.

There is also reports of flooding, dangerous driving conditions and flying debris.

Gusts of up to 130km/h are expected in some counties, with Cork, Kerry and Clare all under a Status Red wind warning.

The Orange alert for Dublin expired at 1pm on Tuesday, dropping to a less severe Status Yellow alert, which means the worst of the storm for the county has since passed.

However, the capital will continue to feel the impact of the storm until 6pm on Wednesday, when its new Status Yellow warning ends.

Already Storm Barra has caused mayhem in the capital, with Dublin Fire Brigade publishing a live map of storm-related incidents they are attending.

It includes flooding, fallen trees, power lines down, loose trampolines and road collisions.

There is also major travel disruption at Dublin Airport with several flight cancellations and diversions.

Meanwhile, Irish Rail reported a fallen tree on the line causing delays for Tuesday morning’s Waterford train to Heuston Station, while Irish Ferries have cancelled a number of services to Dublin due to bad weather.

Many Dublin homes are among the thousands without electricity, while motorists have also been impacted with traffic light outages at the junction of Stephen’s Green/Leeson St/Earlsfort Terrace.
