What time is Nicola Sturgeon’s speech today and how to watch the FM's Scotland lockdown announcement

Nicola Sturgeon will deliver the latest review of lockdown restrictions to the Scottish Parliament this afternoon.

The First Minister of Scotland will announce the latest figures while also setting out potential lockdown easing measures for the coming weeks.

The next lockdown measure to ease is expected to take place on March 15, which will see P4-P7 returning to school full-time and secondary school pupils returning to spend time in school before the Easter break.

What's the latest?

The First Minister branded a mass gathering of Rangers fans at George Square "infuriating and disgraceful" on Sunday on Twitter, warning that they could jeopardise plans to ease the coronavirus restrictions.

Police Scotland arrested 28 people after thousands of supporters descended on the city centre and Ibrox on Sunday to celebrate winning the Scottish Premiership.

A further seven people were issued with fixed penalty notices or will be reported to the Procurator Fiscal.

Yesterday 501 new cases of the virus were recorded in Scotland. One death was recorded over that period, though most registrars officers are closed at weekends, while the latest figures also showed 654 people in hospital confirmed with the virus, a rise of 26 on the previous day, with 59 in intensive care, down two.

Chief Medical Officer Dr Gregor Smith said the R number – the average number of people infected by each person who contracts Covid-19 – had been between 0.7 and 0.9 for the last four weeks.

The latest evidence shows the vaccination programme is reducing the number of deaths from the virus and that the number of cases being reported each day has dropped to its lowest rate since October.

What time will Nicola Sturgeon be speaking?

Proceedings start at 2 pm, beginning with parliamentary bureau motions and questions from MSPs followed by Nicola Sturgeon's statement.

Where can I watch the announcement?

Viewers can watch the update live on Scottish Parliament TV, or on the Scottish Government YouTube page. It will also be aired live on BBC Scotland.

The SNP's official Twitter page will be tweeting the announcement live.
