What time is UK government daily briefing today and will Boris Johnson sack Dominic Cummings

Boris Johnson is under pressure to sack Dominic Cummings at the UK Government's Daily Coronavirus briefing today.

It comes as it was revealed that the Prime Minister's chief adviser travelled to his parent's home in County Durham from London despite the lockdown restrictions.

The first time Dominic Cummings made the 450-mile journey to his parents' house he was exhibiting active coronavirus symptoms and the second time he had already been back to London.

Many people have been left wondering if Boris Johnson will fire his advisor at the coronavirus briefing today.

What time is UK's daily coronavirus briefing?

The coronavirus press briefing is expected to take place at around 5 pm with media coverage starting from 4 pm.

Dominic Cummings was sighted entering No. 10 Downing Street earlier today.

However, the coronavirus briefing is currently scheduled to feature Housing Secretary Robert Jenrick and it is not yet confirmed if Boris Johnson will make it.

In a statement, Downing Street confirmed that they would “not waste time” replying to accusations from “campaigning newspapers”.

The Sunday Times reported that Boris Johnson supports Dominic Cummings and will not throw him "to the dogs"

Will Cummings be sacked?

There is growing pressure from MPs across all of the political parties for Boris Johnson to fire Cummings over his actions.

Nine Tory MP's have now turned against Ten Downing Street's decision to back Dominic Cummings and want to see him removed.

Steve Baker, a former Brexit minister told Sky News that Cummings "certainly isn't indispensable'.

He added: "If he doesn't resign, we'll just keep burning through Boris's political capital at a rate we can ill afford in the midst of this crisis"

"I'm afraid I just think this is the end of the road. I objected to Dominic going into Number 10 on the day Boris became PM, my colleagues weren’t with me. I think it’s worked out badly, as it was bound to do."

It is still unclear what Boris has advised, however on Saturday he pledged his "full support" to his right-hand man.
