What time is today's new cases and deaths Ireland coronavirus briefing and how can I watch it live?

The Department of Health will again be briefing the media and public today about the latest coronavirus cases and deaths in Ireland.

Chief Medical Officer Dr Tony Holohan will chair the briefing as they continue to monitor the situation in the Republic.

Ireland now has more than 400 deaths and over 12,000 cases of the virus, with lockdown set to last until May 5th at the earliest.

Here's all you need to know about today's briefing and how you can watch it;

What time is today's briefing?

The announcement today, Thursday, April 16th, is taking place at a slightly later time and will begin at 6:30pm.

Dr Tony Holohan will brief the nation from the Department of Health Offices in Dublin as has been the case for the last few weeks.

How can I watch it?

The briefing is streamed live on both RTE and Virgin Media every single evening - although not on their main channels.

RTE News Now will show the briefing live while Virgin Media air the announcement in full on their Twitter account, as do RTE.
