What time is the one minute silence for Prince Philip today?

Prince Philip will be laid to rest this afternoon.

The Duke of Edinburgh's funeral will be attended by 30 close friends and family members, and broadcast live on TV so people across the world can pay their respects.

Husband to the Queen for more than 70 years, Philip died peacefully at Windsor Castle on Friday 9 April.

His death has prompted an outpouring of grief from his four children and eight grandchildren.

Due to Covid restrictions the public has been urged not to gather for the Duke's funeral, but there will be a national one minute's silence in his memory.

What time is the one minute silence?

There will be a nationwide minute's silence for Prince Philip at 3pm.

At this time, the pallbearers carrying his coffin will pause.

At the end of the minute's silence, they will carry his coffin into St George's Chapel, and his funeral will begin.

The service will be attended by Philip's four children, Prince Charles, Princess Anne, Prince Andrew and Prince Edward, and his eight grandchildren.

Prince Harry has flown over from Los Angeles to attend, but his heavily pregnant wife Meghan Markle was advised not to travel.

Prince Philip's coffin will leave Windsor Castle at 2:45pm and be driven around to St George's Chapel in a specially designed land rover.

Members of the Royal Family - including Prince Charles, Prince William and Prince Harry - will follow on foot.

The Queen is expected to travel separately, and will not take part in the funeral procession.

The funeral will be broadcast live on BBC, ITV and Sky News. It is not known how long the service will last.

At the end of the funeral, Prince Philip's coffin will be interred at the Royal vault in St George's Chapel. This will be a private family moment, and will not be televised.

The UK will officially be in mourning, with flags flying at half mast, until midnight tonight.
