What time is the latest Covid-19 briefing today? All you need to know

The National Public Health Emergency Team will brief the public on the latest developments in the fight against Covid-19 this evening.

After announcing the latest number of cases and deaths, experts will answer questions from the media surrounding the development of the deadly bug in our country.

The twice-weekly briefing comes amid growing concerns over a possible second lockdown in Dublin and Limerick after a surge in cases in both counties.

But Tanaiste Leo Varadkar appeared to rule this out, saying that a ban on home visits could be more likely.

What time is it at?

The conference will take place at 6pm, and is usually broadcast live on RTE News Now.

Who will be speaking?

Acting Chief Medical Officer Dr Ronan Glynn, HSE Chief Clinical Officer, Dr Colm Henry, and Chair of NPHET Irish Epidemiological Modelling Advisory Group, Dr Philip Nolan, will all be in attendence.

Where will it take place?

The briefing will be held at at Department of Health in Miesian Plaza on Baggot Street in Dublin.

Will there be a second lockdown in Dublin and Limerick?

Tanaiste Leo Varadkar appeared to rule out a second lockdown for Dublin and Limerick, by saying the two cities could follow measures implemented in Glasgow.

Such restrictions saw the city carry on business as usual, but banned visits to other peoples homes.

Mr Varadkar was speaking as it was revealed that there have been 2,018 outbreaks of Covid-19 in private houses.
