Following this afternoon's Government update on reopening plans, the GAA will announce a phased return to play plan this evening.
Club and inter-county championships now look set to take place this year - providing coronavirus cases do not spike and the 'R' infection rate stays relatively low.
GAA chiefs are expected to announce detailed return to play protocols and lay out a roadmap for the resumption of Gaelic games.

What is likely to be announced?
- Pitches around the country are likely to reopen by at least June 29 and that date could possibly be as early as June 8.
- Club championships could start towards the end of July and inter-county football and hurling championships are likely to get underway in October.
- Non-contact training in small groups could possibly be allowed from June 8 onwards.
- New hygiene protocols will be put in place and Covid-19 officers will be appointed by clubs to supervise the reopening of facilities.
