What time is the Brexit vote today on whether MPs want a No Deal? And what could happen next?

MPs will today vote on whether Britain should leave the European Union without a deal just a day after Theresa May’s Brexit withdrawal plans were rejected in a humiliating defeat in Parliament.

Conservative MPs will be given a free vote on a motion stating: "this House declines to approve leaving the European Union without a Withdrawal Agreement and a framework on the future relationship on March 29".

It is expected MPs will reject no deal, which will lead to a third vote on Thursday on whether to authorise Mrs May to request an extension of the two-year Article 50 negotiation process.

The House of Commons has a packed schedule on Wednesday beginning at 12pm with Prime Minister’s Questions.

At 12.45pm Chancellor Philip Hammond is due to present the Spring Statement.

At 2.30pm the motion on no deal Brexit will be put forward with a vote taking place any time after this. It is likely to occur in the early evening at about 7pm.

Speaker John Bercow could also select amendments for MPs to vote on.

If MPs vote for no deal, the UK will leave on the March 29 by automatically reverting to World Trade Organisation trade rules.

If they vote against a no deal and move to vote on extending Article 50 on Thursday, Mrs May will formally ask European leaders for the process to be extended.

The EU27 must then unanimously agree to her request.
