The Formula One season revs into action this weekend as the Bahrain Grand Prix takes pride of place as the first race of the year.
Lewis Hamilton is the defending champion, having equalled Michael Schumacher’s all-time record of seven world titles last season, and is out to become the first man in history to win eight.
Preseason testing, however, suggests that the Brit may not quite have it all his own way, with Red Bull and, in particular, Max Verstappen being touted as a genuine threat to Hamilton and Mercedes’ recent dominance.
Those predictions proved founded ahead of the race as Verstappen was quickest through all three practice sessions before securing only the fourth pole position of his career.
