Leeds Festival 2022 is now right around the corner, and many festival goers are planning their trip and working out which bands and artists they will see, including the popular pop rock band, The 1975. It was announced the group would be headlining the festival earlier in the month.
Festival Republic (the event organisers) put out a statement saying: “We heard you! The 1975 will now be headlining #RandL22. Don’t say we never treat you.”
Leeds Festival (held at Bramham Park) has been running since 1999, and previous years have seen iconic sets from the likes of Blur, The Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Green Day, The White Stripes, and more. This year’s line-up is particularly exciting, with the main stage acts performing, including Run The Jewels, Charli XCX, Dave, and Circa Waves.

The 1975 released their new single “Happiness” at the start of the month. Their next studio album, “Being Funny In A Foreign Language”, is due to be released on October 14 this year, following on from 2020’s “Notes On A Conditional Form.” Their previous popular hits have included “Chocolate”, “The Sound”, “Girls”, and “Be My Mistake.”
Initially formed in Cheshire in 2002, The 1975 currently comprises of lead vocalist/ rhythm guitarist, producer, and lyricist Matty Healy (who is the son of actors Denise Welch and Tim Healy), lead guitarist Adam Hann, bassist Ross MacDonald, and drummer/producer George Daniel.
The band are also touring for much of 2022, including another date at Leeds sister-festival Reading on August 28 before they head over to the states. The US tour will see them play shows across the country, including in Las Vegas, Austin, Houston, LA, Seattle, Boston, Washington DC, and New York.

The 1975 will be playing at Leeds Festival 2022 at 9.20 pm on the Main Stage East on Friday, August 26.
