Taoiseach Micheal Martin will address the nation tonight in the latest easing of Covid restrictions which will begin to ease from June 2.
The nation will be eagerly tuning in to hear confirmation of what is expected to be a significant easing of lockdown, including the return of pubs and international travel.
In his previous addresses Mr Martin would begin at around 6 pm but he may take to the podium earlier this time.
He is set to announce the next stage of lockdown easing after signing off on the plans at a special Cabinet committee meeting this afternoon.
Following a meeting with NPHET yesterday, the lockdown easing was given the go-ahead after CMO Tony Holohan confirmed that the virus transmission was extremely stable.
The easing will be split into a number of different dates starting with June 2. That will be followed a week later by further easing on June 7 and again on July 5.
Health Minister, Stephen Donnelly said: "Thanks to the Irish people getting behind the measures day after day and keeping case numbers and hospitalisation figures low."
There has been a "collapse" in Covid 19 deaths thanks to the successful rollout of the vaccine to the extremely vulnerable age groups.
Between May 14- 26, there have been just eight Covid deaths and the disease is now mainly transmitting in the 45-and-under age group.
