What time is Prime Minister Boris Johnson's Downing Street press conference today?

Prime Minister Boris Johnson is to hold another Downing Street press conference later today to update the nation on the latest in the coronavirus pandemic.

It comes just 24 hours after a press conference was led by Health Secretary Matt Hancock.

Number 10 said the Prime Minister will be joined by Professor Chris Whitty, England's Chief Medical Officer, and the chief executive of NHS England, Sir Simon Stevens.

It comes as record numbers of patients are being treated in hospital in the pandemic, with more than 4,000 patients on mechanical ventilators.

The press conference is expected to focus on the continuing pressures on the NHS while also examining progress in the UK vaccination roll out.

The Prime Minister has been under pressure from backbench Conservative MPs to detail a road map out of the current national lockdown restrictions.

A review of the measures is not expected until next months.

Border controls are likely to feature, too, as an announcement on quarantine hotels is expected later ahead of a meeting of the Covid Operations Committee.

Tonight's briefing starts at 5pm.

We will bring you live updates from the press conference as the Prime Minister addresses the nation.
