What time is Nicola Sturgeon update today - what to expect from the latest lockdown rule review

Nicola Sturgeon is set to make an announcement today over the latest coronavirus alert levels in Scotland.

The First Minister will give an update to the Scottish Parliament where she will reveal whether or not any areas of the country will see their restrictions change.

At present, 11 local authorities are in level four, including Glasgow, Stirling and West Lothian. This level contains the toughest coronavirus restrictions, with non-essential shops, restaurants and gyms closed.

Currently areas such as Edinburgh, Midlothian, Fife and Dundee are in level three, with East Lothian now in level two.

However, it is not expected that Nicola Sturgeon will announce any drastic changes tomorrow ahead of the Christmas bubble restrictions to begin on December 23.

It has also already been confirmed that council areas in level four will see no change until at least December 11.

Speaking at the coronavirus daily briefing on Monday, she said: "Country-wide we are seeing cases fall. In the stubbornly high central belt areas we are a bit more hopeful now. We are starting to see a decline in these areas. Renfrewshire is the area that's still giving some cause for thinking it's still quite stubborn.

"But there are positive signs generally across the country. We will have pockets at any given time we'll be looking carefully at. And we'll want to see sustained positive trends in these areas before we loosen up restrictions.

"When you take an area down a level, it's not a neutral act. You are loosening restrictions so transmission is likely to increase again. We need to make sure that an area can sustain that before doing it."

What time is the update and where can I watch it?

The First Minister will give her updated review to the Holyrood at 2.20pm on Tuesday (December 1).

The announcement will then be followed by questions from MSPs and there will be no coronavirus daily briefing before the 2.15pm update.
