What time is Nicola Sturgeon update today and how to watch it

Scots will hear more today on tougher lockdown measures Nicola Sturgeon and the Scottish Government are setting out for Scotland.

All the latest Covid news from the Scottish Government will be shared later today in the daily coronavirus briefing.

As is usual on a Friday, the health secretary is likely to take the place of the of the First Minister and will share Scotland's latest Covid stats, as well as any key announcements the Scottish Government needs to make.

Nicola Sturgeon has said that further restrictions for Scotland will be set out within days, confirming that these measures will include tougher travel restrictions as the Scottish Government look to keep the virus under control both "now and in the longer term".

The First Minister is also expected to set out more support for those self-isolating in Scotland.

Yesterday Nicola Sturgeon said that whilst case number remain high, the R number is now believed to be below one.

She said it is "vital" cases continue to fall, and that people continue to do the "most important thing" which is to stay at home unless it is essential to leave.
