What time is Nicola Sturgeon speech today and what coronavirus lockdown measures might happen

Looking for the 27 October 5 tier system debate details? You can find out what time it is and how to watch it here.

Update: Nicola Sturgeon has announced that she will be making a statement to the Scottish Parliament today at 2.20 pm followed by a live TV address at 8.05 pm.

Scotland's National Clinical director Jason Leitch has been vocal about how he has been advising the Scottish Government on taking action to 'stop too many households from mixing' - which could include restrictions placed on hospitality settings.

Before her announcement, The First Minister will join leaders from the other nations this morning at an emergency COBRA meeting hoped at looking at a "four nations approach to the crisis."

Here is where and you can watch the briefing today and what changes we might see:

How to watch the briefing

Nicola Sturgeon's coronavirus briefing will not be shown at the usual time of 12.15pm today.

Instead, the First Minister revealed that she will make a statement to the Scottish Parliament at 2.20pm which you can watch live on Parliament TV here.

She will also make a TV address at 8.05 pm on which will be shown on BBC One Scotland.

What restrictions might be brought in?

Extending a ban on household gatherings

At the peak of the pandemic, Scots were told they could not visit other households indoors. A number of areas of Glasgow have seen this rule re-introduced after it was relaxed for the rest of the country.

Health secretary Jeane Freeman confirmed that it was being considered.

Hospitality curfew

Another idea which has been floated across the UK is a curfew on hospitality businesses like pubs.

It would see them close at a fixed time, rather than setting their own opening hours as they do now.

A "circuit break" lockdown

Scientists have suggested that a brief, time-limited full lockdown could be introduced for two weeks at a point when such a move would cause as little disruption as possible - such as over a school holiday.

According to a leaked document that is believed to have come from the Scottish Government, they are considering this approach.
