How to watch Nicola Sturgeon's daily announcement today, what time is it on and what to expect

Nicola Sturgeon will hold a daily coronavirus briefing this afternoon, where she will give an update on hospitality restrictions.

Viewers can watch live coverage of the COVID-19 update on the BBC Scotland channel from 12:15-1:15pm, or can catch the briefing live on Parliament TV here.

The First Minister has said the measures, which will form a new tiered approach to tackling the coronavirus outbreak, are currently being considered.

Ms Sturgeon added that this could include a range of rules, insisting that all options are being kept under review, and would replace the current temporary restrictions.

However, the full details of the new strategic framework are not set to be published until the end of the week before being debated in parliament - so, what can we expect today?

One issue that the First Minister has said she will discuss today is the current hospitality restrictions.

Speaking at Tuesday's coronavirus daily briefing, the First Minister said there would be an update on Wednesday after The Cabinet meet in the morning.

She said: "I will be saying more tomorrow [Wednesday] about hospitality restrictions and I will be doing that after The Cabinet meets tomorrow [Wednesday] morning to take stock of the situation nd decide on next steps."

Earlier this month, Nicola Sturgeon imposed a 16 day closure on all bars, pubs and restaurants across Scotland's central belt amid soaring new coronavirus cases.

Initially, the Scottish Government said that cafes with an alcohol license would also have to close for two weeks, but then u-turned on the decision and said they could remain open.

However, under the current rules, cafes must close by 6pm each day.

The First Minister has not ruled out extending the restrictions, with Scotland's Cabinet Secretary for Tourism, Fergus Ewing, admitting this was something he "can't guarantee".
