Nicola Sturgeon will announce details of the Scottish Government’s review on the current lockdown restrictions this afternoon.
The First Minister will address MSPs at Holyrood after chairing a cabinet meeting on the stay at home measures, which will take place in the morning.
It is unlikely that any of the restrictions will be lifted by the end of this month.
Sturgeon is also not expected to impose tougher measures on the country as the number of new coronavirus cases remains at high levels across Scotland.
An update is also anticipated on the opening of school buildings during the First Minister’s statement.
She is expected to explain why schools are unlikely to be able to reopen in early February and must stay closed into next month.
When will Nicola Sturgeon speak today?
Proceedings will begin at the Scottish Parliament at around 2pm, beginning with questions from MSPs before the First Minister makes a statement on the lockdown restrictions shortly after.
Where can I watch the update?
Scots can tune into Sturgeon’s statement from 2.15pm on our Facebook, the BBC One Scotland and BBC Scotland channels.
The update will also be available to watch on the official Scottish Parliament TV website - which will start at around 2pm.
We will also have live coverage of the announcement on our live blog, which you can find here.
