What time is Nicola Sturgeon's lockdown announcement and where you can watch

Nicola Sturgeon will provide an update on the latest review into Scotland’s lockdown restrictions later today.

The First Minister is expected to outline a series of dates as to when the likes of non-essential businesses and the hospitality sector can reopen amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Pubs, restaurants and shopping centres are among the businesses that have remained closed during the stay at home lockdown restrictions imposed since Boxing Day last year.

The number of people testing positive for coronavirus across the country has plummeted during this period, while the number of people vaccinated is now close to two million in Scotland.

Restrictions on meeting outdoors were eased in recent days, with more school pupils also returning to classrooms.

But Sturgeon has said that there has been a ‘slight increase’ in the number of Covid cases in Scotland over the last week.

What time will Nicola Sturgeon make an announcement on restrictions?

The First Minister will address MSPs at Holyrood just after 2pm this afternoon - with it usually kicking off at around 2.15pm.

Where can I watch the announcement?

Scots can tune in to Nicola Sturgeon’s statement on our Facebook page, on BBC One Scotland or the BBC Scotland channels.

It will also be available to watch on the Scottish Parliament TV website.

The Daily Record will also have a live blog of the announcement, which you can follow here.
