What time is Nicola Sturgeon's lockdown announcement and where to watch it

Nicola Sturgeon is expected to announce a further tightening of the stay at home lockdown restrictions in Scotland later today.

The First Minister convened a cabinet meeting yesterday as the new cases of coronavirus continue to surge across the country.

Officials have already hinted at stricter rules for the likes of click and collect shopping, takeaways and the construction industry.

Sturgeon said yesterday that it would be ‘very unlikely’ that the lockdown will be fully lifted at the end of January.

Scotland has entered into its second week of the new national lockdown (PA)

The latest data has revealed that Scots hospital patient figures are now higher than they were during the first peak of the virus last spring.

When will the First Minister be speaking?

Nicola Sturgeon will address MSPs at Holyrood for First Minister’s Questions at 12.30pm this afternoon.

There will also be two ministerial statements on the Scottish Government’s vaccination plan and an update on schools and the remote learning arrangements from 11am.

Where can I watch it?

Scots will be able to tune into the First Minister’s statement on the BBC One Scotland and BBC Scotland TV channels from 12.30pm.

You can also access it on the official Scottish Parliament TV website - which can be found here.

The Daily Record will also have a live blog on the event, which is over here.

We will also be broadcasting the address from our Facebook page LIVE so you don't miss out.
