Nicola Sturgeon will issue an update on the latest coronavirus situation in Scotland later today.
The First Minister is set to hold a press briefing from St Andrew's House in Edinburgh about what measures Scots can take to minimise the spread of the new Omicron variant.
The SNP leader is expected to announce the new strain of the virus has become the dominant variant in Scotland with cases increasing rapidly every day.
During a statement before First Minister's Questions in the Scottish Parliament yesterday Sturgeon urged Scots to remain at home in order to halt the spread of the variant.
Chief Medical Officer Gregor Smith will join Sturgeon to take questions from journalists follow the opening statement on the latest figures.

What time is the briefing?
Nicola Sturgeon and her advisers are set to get to the podium at around 12.15pm.
She will issue an update on the state of the pandemic then take questions from journalists who will be joining remotely.
What can I expect?
During the announcement Nicola Sturgeon will reveal the latest coronavirus figures across the country. She will reveal how many people have caught the virus and the number of Scots who have sadly passed away in the last 24-hour period.
An update will also be given on how many people have received their first, second and booster jabs.
The First Minister is also likely to reiterate her message from yesterday on calling for Scots to remain at home to stop the spread of the highly transmissible Omicron variant.
New measures for pubs, restaurants, shopping centres, shops and workplaces have come into force today so expect Sturgeon to go over that advice again today.
