What time is Nicola Sturgeon's coronavirus lockdown announcement today and how to watch

Nicola Sturgeon is set to announce the latest update on Scotland's five-tier coronavirus lockdown system today.

The First Minister will make a speech to parliament on Tuesday afternoon - with millions likely to be placed under the toughest restrictions.

She yesterday warned that areas of the western central belt could be moved to level 4 after cases have remained at a "stubbornly high level".

In leaked documents, up to twelve local authority areas could be plunged under stricter lockdown measures this week.

If confirmed as expected, the level 4 decision will lead to further restrictions on travel, closure of non essential shops, hairdressers, pubs and gyms from Friday.

So, what time is Nicola Sturgeon's speech today and how can you watch it?

What time is the update today?

The First Minister's update today will be in the Scottish Parliament, rather than the usual format of the daily briefing.

She will face question from MSPs after the update rather than from the media.

Depending on debates in parliament scheduled before the update, she will speak at around 2.15pm on Tuesday, November 17.

How can you watch the announcement?

Ms Sturgeon’s update will be broadcast live on BBC Scotland.

You will be able to watch the announcement on the Scottish Parliament TV website.
