What time is Nicola Sturgeon's coronavirus lockdown announcement and how to watch

Nicola Sturgeon is set to give an update to the Scottish Parliament on the coronavirus situation across the country.

The First Minister will address MSPs in the Holyrood chamber and is expected set out a slight easing of restrictions when it comes to meeting people outdoors.

It comes as John Swinney announced yesterday that Scotland had recorded one death of a coronavirus patient and 501 new cases in the past 24 hours.

This takes the death toll under this measure – of people who first tested positive for the virus within the previous 28 days – to 7,422.

The daily test positivity rate is 5%, up from 3.2% on Sunday.

There are 654 people in hospital confirmed to have the virus, up 26 in 24 hours, and 59 are in intensive care, down two.

Last week, the First Minister said she was "hopeful" that rules on outdoor meetings in Scotland could soon be relaxed.

But she warned Scots "not to get carried away" as the daily number of covid cases dropped to its lowest level since September.

What time is the announcement?

The announcement is expected to start at around 2.15pm, you can follow the statement on our live blog.

Where can I watch the announcement?

Scots can tune into the statement on our Facebook, the BBC One Scotland and BBC Scotland TV channels.

The update will also be available to watch on the official Scottish Parliament TV website.
