What time is Nicola Sturgeon's announcement today and how to watch

Scottish First Minister Nicola Sturgeon will make her latest announcement on coronavirus in Scotland this afternoon, updating Scots on the latest news on lockdown.

The First Minister will provide the latest Covid stats, as well as cover any crucial Scottish Government updates in her daily briefing.

It comes after the country recorded a further 1,195 new cases of the virus on Sunday, and 1,307 new cases on Saturday.

The test positivity rate was 9.3 per cent on Saturday, and 7.4 per cent on Sunday.

The latest figures were welcomed by Edinburgh University health expert Prof Devi Sridhar, who described them as "good news".

"Good news in Scotland: 1195 new cases, 7.4% positivity. Weekend effect, but good to see us heading <1000 cases, and <5% positivity.

"Fingers crossed we get there this week. Thanks to everyone for sticking with the harsh restrictions & putting community ahead of self-interest.

"Path forward is: get numbers & positivity down so we're out of community transmission, build test/trace/isolate/support to manage & contain outbreaks, guard against re-importation of infections from travel & try to re-open schools & as much of domestic economy as possible," she said.
