What time is Nicola Sturgeon lockdown update at Scottish Parliament today and how to watch it

Nicola Sturgeon will update the nation today on whether any changes will be made to Scotland's current level four coronavirus restrictions and confirm if children will be allowed to return to school anytime soon.

After meeting with her Cabinet this morning, the First Minister will give a statement to MSPs in the Scottish Parliament later this afternoon.

Changes to travel restrictions are expected to be announced, aimed at making those currently in place more effective - with more information to be provided on supervised quarantine for travellers arriving in Scotland.

Yesterday Ms Sturgeon told Scots that case numbers were still too high and that "it continues to be the case that these restrictions are important to suppress the virus to lower levels than it's at right now".

A decision is also expected as to when youngsters are likely to be able to get back into classrooms - following weeks of uncertainty for thousands of families across Scotland.

And today's update comes more than five weeks after level four lockdown restrictions were imposed across mainland Scotland, and a fortnight after the Scottish Government opted twice to delay a return to school for most children after the Christmas holidays.
