What time is Nicola Sturgeon's Covid update today and what to expect

Nicola Sturgeon is set to give a weekly update on how the country is coping with the covid pandemic that struck more than 18 months ago.

Today the First Minister will be speaking at Holyrood to inform MSPs of the latest data surrounding cases and deaths, as well as any future changes that could be made.

By current figures show there is 71 cases of the Omicrom variant in Scotland up to now with two confirmed in the Lothians.

Sturgeon is expected to give the 20-minute statement on covid-19 before taking questions from member of parliament for around 40 minutes in the chamber.

During the address the SNP leader is expected to urge caution as cases of the new Omicron variant continue to spread across the country.

Yesterday, Deputy First Minister John Swinney urged people to test more regularly in a bid to prevent further spread of the deadly virus in the lead up to Christmas.

What time will Nicola Sturgeon speak?

The FM is due to speak at the Scottish Parliament at around 2.20pm on Tuesday afternoon (December 6.)

However, this can often face a slight delay due to topical questions in the parliament running over time.

Sturgeon will first give a pre-prepared statement to the chamber, before taking questions from MSPs.
