What time is Micheal Martin's Ireland lockdown announcement on Tuesday?

Taoiseach Micheal Martin will set out the Government's living with Covid-19 plan on Tuesday.

The revised roadmap will feature a commitment to getting people active outside as soon as possible.

Construction and retail are likely to be the first industries allowed to reopen.

This will give clarity to the nation after weeks of leaks and the explosive interview with the Irish Mirror last week where the Fianna Fail leader confirmed nine more weeks of 'restrictions".

Nothing aside from schools will have reopened after March 5, the date the current lockdown was supposed to finish.

So what time will the road map be revealed?

What time is Micheal Martin's living with Covid plan announcement on Tuesday?

The details of Micheal Martin's announcement haven't yet been fully confirmed.

Micheal Martin is expected to address the nation at 6pm this evening.

Based on similar lockdown announcements over recent months, it seems likely that the confirmation of the plan will come in a live broadcast on RTE News.

Then we'll have all the info we need about our next few months.

What time are cabinet meeting before Martin's announcement?

The full Cabinet will meet on Tuesday morning to discuss in detail the various aspects of the plan.

Ministers will lobby for their sectors.

The cabinet began their meeting his afternoon and will finish with the signing off of a document that will have a major impact on Ireland's next few months.

What is expected to change on March 5?

There will be little to no changes on March 5.

Case numbers remain stubbornly high and it is expected that it will be some time yet before we see any meaningful changes.

That means the 5km rule, limits on household visits and so on will be extended, along with the original lockdown end date.

How long will 'restrictions' continue?

Taoiseach Micheal Martin told the Irish Mirror's Ciara Phelan earlier last week: "What’ll happen next will be modest, I wouldn’t overstate it in the sense of announcements and so on.

“We are looking at a continuation of restrictions certainly right into April.

“We’ll have some look at construction but then again it won’t be a full return to construction, we’ll assess what the public health advice is.

“We’ve already certainly indicated that beyond Easter we’ll look at it again but until the end of April you can look at significant restrictions and we’ll review it after that then because we’ll have to see where we are."
