What time is Matt Hancock holding a Downing Street press conference on coronavirus?

The government has announced its second phase of the coronavirus vaccine roll out today with all adults prioritised for jabs, starting with people over 40.

More than 19 million people in the UK have already received a vaccine dose, according to figures released on Thursday.

The Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation had considered whether certain occupation groups - such as teachers and police officers - should be vaccinated next, but concluded the most effective way to prevent death and hospital admission is to prioritise by age.

And a Downing Street press conference is taking place later on Friday, led by the Health Secretary.

Matt Hancock is likely to update the nation on the vaccine roll out as well as the latest situation on the pandemic.

Yesterday, the UK's four Chief Medical Officers announced that the alert level would be downgraded from Level 5 - the most severe - to Level 4.

It means that the NHS and health care is not at risk of being overwhelmed by coronavirus cases within 21 days.

Tonight's Downing Street briefing is scheduled to begin at 5pm.

Mr Hancock will be joined on the podiums by England's Deputy Chief Medical Officer, Professor Jonathan Van-Tam, and Dr Susan Hopkins, the senior medical adviser at NHS England.
