What time is Mark Drakeford speaking today as lockdown extension announced?

Mark Drakeford will update the nation on Friday, January 8 on the outcome of the 21-day review of coronavirus lockdown measures in Wales.

The Welsh Government has already confirmed the restrictions in Wales will not be lifted, warning that school and college students will continue to learn online until the February half-term, unless there is a "significant" drop in cases before January 29.

Wales has been under Alert Level 4 lockdown measures since December 20, with non-essential retail, hospitality venues, licensed premises and leisure facilities closed and people urged to stay at home.

In an update this morning, the First Minister confirmed the restrictions would remain in place "to keep us all safe."

He also said the measures will be strengthened to close all showrooms, although they will still be able to operate click-and-collect services.
