What is Long Lost Family about?

This series follows ex-Liverpool and Leeds defender Dominic Matteo, as he searches for his birth mother after a brain tumour left him "fighting for his life."

Matteo was put up for adoption as a baby, and has never known who his birth mother is.

While Matteo had a very happy childhood with his adoptive family, his brush with death has made him question his beginnings: "I got to a place where I was just thinking about meeting my birth mother.

"When you're close to your life being over, it just becomes more important."

Matteo became seriously ill in November 2019, and underwent life-saving surgery to remove a life-threatening brain tumour.

While he has now made a full recovery, he credits the illness with changing his perspective on life: "I'm not sure we'd have had this conversation before my illness, I'm not sure, I'm not sure, but it's made me think completely differently about life."

Who presents Long lost Family?

Long Lost Family is presented by Davina McCall and Nicky Campbell.
