What time is Liverpool vs Manchester City? Community Shield kick-off times, TV details and team news

The football season is back up and running and that means it's time for the annual curtain-raiser.

The Community Shield pits the winners of the Premier League against the FA Cup.

Since both were won by Manchester City last year, league runners-up Liverpool will take on the Citizens.

And this is everything you need to know about the season opener.

When is it?

The Community Shield will take place at Wembley Stadium on Sunday 3 August. Kick-off is at 3pm.

Is it on TV?

Yes. You can watch the match live on BT Sport 1. Coverage starts at 2.30pm.

What's the team news?

Liverpool welcomed back Alisson Becker, Roberto Firmino, Naby Keita, Mohamed Salah and Xherdan Shaqiri this week.

However, Sadio Mane will not be involved. He links up with the squad again on Monday having reached the Africa Cup of Nations final with Senegal last month.

Jurgen Klopp's men are also without the injured Nathaniel Clyne and Caoimhin Kelleher, while Ryan Kent has been ill.

As for City, Fernandinho and Benjamin Mendy won't feature - while a number of late arrivals are unlikely to feature heavily following international committments.

Sergio Aguero, Ederson, Gabriel Jesus, Nicolas Otamendi and Riyad Mahrez all reported back this week so are unlikely to start.
